Why should you take Bridal portraits? | Dallas Wedding Photographer
Bridal portraits are a Southern tradition when the bride takes portraits in her wedding dress days before the wedding. These are not as common up north but I am hoping this Southern trend spreads all over the United States/World Wide! And here is why..
1) Majority of hair and makeup artists offer a complimentary wedding trial when you book. This is a great opportunity to get in your dress fully done up from head to toe. You can see how your hair style flows with the style of your dress and if your makeup tones compliment the dress color.
2) When I take bridal portraits its typically 1-2 months before the wedding. This is either at the end of all your alterations or right before the final touch up session. By taking bridal portraits you have a trial run of putting on the dress and taking off. You can also practice bustling. This way you can see if there are any fit issues or details of the dress that might need to be addressed. Its also good to have another pair of fresh eyes to look over everything. You spent all this money on a gorgeous gown you want to make sure its perfect!
3) Another vendor that sometimes offers a complimentary wedding trial is the florist. The bouquet is one of my favorite and in my opinion a major accessory for the bride/bridesmaids. By having a mockup bridal bouquet for the shoot you will see what flowers will be used, the shape of the bouquet, and have the opportunity feeling comfortable carrying the flowers.
With all of these great benefits to taking bridal portraits you will end up with some beautiful photos to share at the wedding. I love seeing the portraits I take on the guest book table, by the cake, mixed in with engagement photos and wedding portraits from the parents. They also make a great gift for the mothers. But honestly what better way to make yourself feel amazing, by getting all dressed up in the gown that you will say βI doβ in. Talk about a good way to spend an afternoon.
